GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Division Manager and Lead Supervisor to help oversee and supervise routine custodial activities and staff. This position is responsible for the leadership and work duties of custodians in their assigned work areas.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

This position exercises supervision over lower-level staff within their area of responsibility.

IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Oversee custodial staff, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.

Ensure coverage during vacation, holidays, or illness.

Responsible for the division custodial services in the absence of custodial manager and supervisor.

Assist in feedback from custodial staff and provide recommendations to the custodial services supervisor.

Routinely inspect all custodial work areas and address any complaints and concerns.

Conduct and manage safety measures.

Conduct and oversee daily crew duties.

Lead and participate in work assignments.

Drives a City vehicle or personal vehicle to conduct business on behalf of the City.

OTHER JOB-RELATED DUTIES

Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

Safety practice and procedures.

Proper use and maintenance of custodial equipment and supplies.

Cleaning techniques for various surfaces and environments.

The buildings assigned to them.

Skill to:

Operate all custodial equipment including vacuum cleaner, carpet machine and buffer.

Provide exemplary customer service to internal and external customers in all circumstances and potentially stressful situations.

Operate office equipment, including the postage machine and basic computer programs.

Effectively communicate instructions and information both verbally and in writing.

Ability to:

Identify issues and recommend improvements for custodial operations and facility maintenance.

Adapt to changing environments and demands.

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, both internally and externally.

Experience and Training Guidelines:

For positions with more than one level, all listed requirements at the lower levels are required at the higher levels. Any combination equivalent to experience and training to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying. Knowledge, skills, and abilities may be obtained through:

Experience:

Experience in custodial work is preferred.

Education/Training:

A high school diploma or GED is required .

License or Certificate:

A valid Texas driver's license, the ability to obtain one within ninety (90) days, or a military waiver is required.

Special Requirements:

Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:

Bloodborne Pathogens training and HazCom training are required within sixty (60) days of employment.

Must be able to pass a comprehensive Federal background check.

Ability to travel to different job sites.
